Rare Brazilian Stingless Bee Honey from the Atlantic Forest — Pontal do Sul, Ilha do Mel

Mel de abelhas nativas Pontal do Sul - Ilha do Mel

The Ilha do Mel Nativo project was born in Pontal do Sul, on the coast of Paraná, a region of unique environmental importance between the Atlantic Forest and the ocean. Created by long-time local residents with over forty years of history in the area, the project aims to value native stingless bees, protect biodiversity, and develop small-scale sustainable production.

Ilha do Mel — which inspired the project’s name — received its name decades ago because the island was once abundant with native bees and hives spread across its vegetation. Over time, urban expansion and habitat loss drastically reduced these populations. Our commitment is to help restore this balance through responsible beekeeping and full respect for the environment.

Brazil’s native stingless bees are essential for the pollination of Atlantic Forest species and for maintaining coastal ecosystems. We work with meliponine hives in a controlled environment, always prioritizing the bees’ well-being, avoiding predatory practices, and steering away from mass production.

Production follows principles of sustainability, traceability, and respect for natural cycles. The honey and its derivatives undergo technical monitoring and are being structured for official certification. While this process is underway, we do not disclose operational addresses, quantities, or commercial values. Our priority is to ensure that every stage is compliant with environmental and sanitary standards.

Pontal do Sul and Ilha do Mel are located within one of the most sensitive and highly protected coastal areas of Paraná, with both federal and state conservation units. For this reason, all work is carried out in accordance with environmental and scientific institutions that support the preservation of the Atlantic Forest and the management of native bees.

Among the main institutions providing technical and scientific reference or cooperation are:

The initiative also seeks to integrate environmental education and responsible tourism, promoting awareness of native fauna and encouraging visitors to understand the vital role of bees in maintaining the planet’s balance. Our goal is to unite conservation, production, and learning — always respecting nature’s rhythm.

Ilha do Mel Nativo is a developing project focused on positive impact, environmental compliance, and commitment to the local community. Every action is guided by ethics, transparency, and love for the land where it all began.

In the southern coast of Brazil, within the Atlantic Forest — one of the world’s most diverse ecosystems — lives a species of native stingless bees that exist nowhere else on Earth. Their honey is a true rarity: naturally medicinal, with unique enzymes and floral notes that science continues to study.

Unlike industrial honey, this nectar is created in balance with the forest. It is produced in tiny quantities, never filtered, never heated, and always harvested with respect for the bees and the cycles of nature.

Researchers in Brazil and abroad recognize this honey for its high antibacterial properties, low acidity, and natural healing potential. It is more than a product — it is a living reflection of biodiversity, sustainability, and purity.

Each jar carries the essence of the Atlantic Forest — a gift shaped by time, care, and the harmony between man and nature.
