Rodrigo Castro

Rodrigo Castro is Co-Founder of the Ilha do Mel Nativo project alongside Renata and has maintained a close connection with Pontal do Sul and the Paraná coast for more than four decades. His family established one of the first residential homes in the area, before the region experienced significant urban growth, giving Rodrigo the opportunity to follow its transformation over the years and to witness local efforts to preserve the landscape, protect biodiversity and maintain the environmental balance that defines the coast.

This long-standing relationship with Pontal do Sul is an important part of the project’s origins. It provides Ilha do Mel Nativo with a perspective shaped not only by environmental interest, but also by personal experience, local history and a lasting connection with the territory.

An entrepreneur based in São Bernardo do Campo, Rodrigo is also Co-Founder of Human Hand Org, an organization focused on education, community initiatives and sustainable development. Throughout his professional career, he has participated in sustainability projects for companies, circular-economy studies, self-sustainability initiatives and social programs involving different communities and partners.

This experience contributes to the development of Ilha do Mel Nativo as a project that brings together environmental education, citizen science, biodiversity conservation and community participation, with particular attention to Pontal do Sul, Ilha do Mel and the coastal Atlantic Forest of Paraná.
