Native bees are essential pollinators that support the reproduction of wild plants, food crops, and the natural regeneration of ecosystems. Brazil is home to a remarkable diversity of native bee species, including many stingless bees that have evolved alongside the Atlantic Forest and other Brazilian biomes.
Their presence is closely connected to healthy habitats, floral diversity, and ecological balance. Protecting native bees means protecting pollination networks, biodiversity, and the environmental processes that sustain forests and communities.
For the Ilha do Mel Nativo project, native bees are a central part of our work in environmental education, citizen science, habitat conservation, and the promotion of a more informed and respectful relationship with coastal ecosystems.
