Dermochelys coriacea, known as the leatherback sea turtle, is the largest sea turtle species in the world. Highly migratory, it travels long distances across the oceans and feeds mainly on jellyfish and other gelatinous organisms. In Brazil, its nesting is rare outside the main reproductive areas, making records on the Paraná coast especially important for research, monitoring and marine conservation.
